Tracking Pixel (sketch), 2020
Over the course of several months in the Fall of 2020 I ran scripts that instructed my mobile phone to capture images alternately with its front and rear cameras while the device's screen was on. Again using scripted actions, each image was pared down to only its central pixel. The pixels of one day, November 23, 2020, are presented here in a static grid. This sketch is a proof of concept for a series of similar scripting based works that would extract, bin and re-present, in real time, pixels from the raw image feed of a social imaging platform (e.g. Instagram) to generate enclosing, stroboscopic installations in both virtual and real space making the scale and pace of such a platform visible and present.
