Tracking Pixel (sketch), 2020
Over several months in the Fall of 2020 I ran scripts that would capture images alternately with the front and rear cameras of my cellphone each minute when the device's screen was on. Again using scripted actions, each image was pared down to only its central pixel. The pixels of one day, November 23, 2020, are presented here in a static grid. In finished form, similar scripting would be used to extract, bin and re-present, in real time, pixels from the raw image feed of a platform like Instagram to generate enclosing, stroboscopic installations in both virtual and real space making the scale and pace of such a platform visible and present.
